Sashiko - 刺し子

Sashiko (刺し子, literally "little stabs" or "little pierce") is a form of decorative reinforcement stitching (or functional embroidery) from Japan. I am not a Sashiko expert and only use these technique as a base for artistic embroidery work, using scraps from the studio to upcycle clothes or else.

During this workshop, participants can bring their own piece of clothes and use naturally dyed scraps from the studio to repair them, doing Sashiko’s inspired embroidery.

They can also just practice stitching on naturally dyed scraps from the studio, that they can use later.
